Laser Therapy
Laser therapy is part of our advanced treatment options designed to support pain relief, healing, and overall recovery. This non-invasive technology is used to help reduce discomfort, improve mobility, and accelerate the body’s natural healing process. For many patients, laser therapy becomes a valuable addition to their care plan, helping them return to daily activities more comfortably and with greater confidence.
Laser therapy uses high-powered therapeutic lasers to deliver focused light energy deep into the body’s tissues. This process, known as photobiomodulation, triggers a cellular response that encourages healing at the source of pain and injury. When the laser light reaches the affected area, it stimulates cellular activity, increases metabolism within the cells, and improves blood flow. The result is enhanced circulation to injured tissues, reduced inflammation, and a decrease in pain and stiffness.
One of the key benefits of laser treatment is that it supports healing without causing damage to surrounding tissues. Unlike more invasive treatments, laser therapy works gently and efficiently, making it a great option for patients who are looking for effective pain relief without downtime. It can be used on its own or combined with other physical therapy treatments to maximize results.
Who is a Good Candidate for Laser Therapy?
This service can benefit a wide range of conditions and is especially effective for patients experiencing issues such as:
- Sprains and Strains
- Tenonitis
- Neck Pain
- Back Pain
- TMJ Disorders
- Planter Fasciitis
- Post-surgical Patients
Whether pain is the result of overuse, injury, or surgery, laser therapy may help reduce symptoms and speed up recovery. Your physical therapist will determine if laser therapy is appropriate based on your diagnosis, symptoms, and overall goals.
What does laser treatment feel like?
Laser treatments must be administered directly to the skin, as clothing or topical dressings can interfere with the delivery of light to the tissues beneath the surface. During treatment, most patients feel little to no sensation. Some may notice a mild pressure or gentle warmth in the area being treated, but the procedure is generally very comfortable and well tolerated.
Each session is relatively quick, and patients are able to resume normal activities immediately afterward. There is no required recovery time following laser therapy.
How many laser treatments do you need?
Many patients begin to notice improvement within one to five treatments, although results can vary depending on the condition being treated and how the body responds. Your physical therapist will develop a customized plan of care based on your specific needs, the type of tissue involved, and your recovery goals.
