Staying Active While Staying Safe

While COVID-19 may be keeping you from going to the gym or to your office, it does not have to keep you from finding ways to stay active and healthy! Some of us may feel lost without having a gym to go to, while others who are new to exercise can begin a healthy regimen right in the comfort of your own home.

There are many different options for those who are experienced in working out and for those who are new to the idea. There are plenty fitness apps available on your smartphone, including Nike Training, OrangeTheory Fitness, and Planet Fitness. All are offering free trials for this challenging time, packed full of different workout options depending on your equipment available. Many of the exercise routines are equipment free and have many different skill levels for all levels of fitness.

Aside from fitness programs online, there are plenty of other options available to you. Walking pets, taking a jog or hike outside (see our previous blog posting on hiking for helpful tips and tricks), and simply enjoying the beautiful spring weather by gardening are all ways you can incorporate physical activity into an isolated lifestyle. You will have to check your local government’s website to make sure parks and trails are open in your city. If not, walking around your neighborhood will still be a great way to get outdoors!

Physical therapy is an important part of being active and healthy and we at Carolina Physical Therapy are committed to your health and well-being. We understand that you may not be able to visit the clinic for your PT appointment, so we are offering other options including Telehealth (video and audio chat with your therapist) and in-home physical therapy visits. If you or someone you know needs physical therapy, we are committed to providing outstanding care in the safest environment. Reach out to your local physical therapist at Carolina PT today and see what options are there for you!

As always, if you have any questions about physical therapy or would like to set-up a video consultation, feel free to call or stop by your closest Carolina Physical Therapy location for other tips and advice for exercise!
